Church Administration

Ministry Support Council

 The Ministry Support Council works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• establishing administrative policies and procedures
• overseeing their implementation
• assisting the Senior Pastor and staff in communication with the church
• bringing additional accountability to the staff and other church leaders
• providing written documentation of all meetings and actions
• providing a forum for any church member whom has issues to address
• determining new policies or policy changes that must be submitted to the congregation 
            for approval

Staff Support Committee

The Staff Support Committee works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• assisting all staff members as needed
• promoting staff appreciation and praying for staff
• determining new staff position needs
• maintaining proper personnel policies
• defining job roles and responsibilities
• ensuring adequate compensation for staff
• facilitating the resolution of staff conflicts
• serving as accountability partners for the staff
• providing written documentation of all meetings and actions

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• monitoring expenditures for budgetary purposes
• conferring with and monitoring the activities of the church financial secretary
• keeping the church informed on financial matters
• presenting a monthly financial report to the church
• recommending to the church record keeping and purchasing procedures
• preparing a proposed budget for the next fiscal year
• receiving appropriate committee, officer and staff recommendations
• completing and presenting the proposed budget
• recommending to the church any amendments to the budget
• assisting in a yearly stewardship emphasis

Church Properties Committee

The Properties Committee works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• regularly inspecting and maintaining all church properties
• adhering to the purchasing policy of the church
• maintaining fire safety standards and equipment
• developing a church properties budget
• working closely with the Facilities Manager
• informing the appropriate entities of needs that exceeds the budget
• ensuring proper use of all FBC facilities
• providing written documentation of all meetings and actions

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• overseeing the entire election process which includes distributing and collecting the self qualification questionnaires
• preparing the Committee and Deacon election ballots
• distributing and collecting the Committee and Deacon election ballots
• compiling the results of the elections
• working to secure final commitments from elected Deacons, Ministry Support Council 
            members and standing committee members
• presenting all Deacons, Ministry Support Council and standing committees to the
            congregation for affirmation

Deacon Ministry

The Deacon Ministry works with the Senior Pastor and staff by:
• being Christian leaders proclaiming the Gospel to believers and unbelievers
• providing care to people in Christ’s name
• providing leadership and assistance to the church staff in at training its objectives
• leading in building and maintaining church fellowship
• providing ministries in the following areas:
                Widow’s Ministry, Yoke Fellow Ministry, Deacon Visitation, New Member 
                Mentoring, New Member Class Host, Decision Counseling, Deacon of the 
                Week, Offertory Prayer, and Mug Ministry

Worship Support Ministries

Welcome Center

To provide a place where visitors can find answers to questions about our church services, Sunday school classrooms, and where they can receive a Welcome Packet to take with them as a gift. Opportunities for Service: People are needed to assist at the Welcome Center during worship services and special events at our church; provide hospitality to our guests with coffee and conversation at The Commons Cup.Skills/spiritual gifts: Hospitality, service, administration

Worship and Music Ministry

Prayer Partners

This ministry receives prayer requests, updates and praises and distributes them to members who want to receive them via email. Audio/Media Ministry

Decorations Ministry

Frontline Ministry (ushers, greeters, parking lot greeters)

To make all people feel welcome as they arrive at FBC, from being greeted in the parking lot, being welcomed at the door, to being greeted in the sanctuary as newcomers.Opportunities for Service: We not only assist on Sunday mornings, but when the church has special events, we are sometimes called on to help in other areas of church greeting.Skills/spiritual gifts: Service, Hospitality

Riding Lawnmower Team

Children’s Ministries

Preschool

Our ministry exists to teach preschoolers (8 weeks through pre-kindergarten) Christ’s love through words and action, lay a firm foundation for their faith to grow so that others may build upon it, leading the child to have a saving, active relationship with Christ. Opportunities for Service: Teachers are dedicated to teaching preschoolers about God, not only through words but also by action. Throughout the year, our preschoolers have the opportunity to take part in various mission activities and special events.Skills/spiritual gifts: Love for children, teaching, nurturing

Sunday School

We strive to make our Sunday school a fun-filled, spiritual adventure that engages children in a Bible study and worship experience.Opportunities for Service: Sunday school provides children opportunities to build relationships with Christian adults; be involved in fun, experiential, high energy Bible study experiences and participate with other children as we learn more about our Christian faith.Skills/spiritual gifts: Love of children, teaching, Bible study

Genesis Lab

We believe it is vital to teach our kids how to worship and at Genesis Lab we do that in the context of fun and excitement. A typical week of worship can include puppets, lab experiments, worship songs, and bible characters being zapped in from the past!Opportunities for Service: Volunteers are needed to help with the children as they worship during both hours of Sunday morning worship. There are also opportunities in drama, storytelling, puppets, technical operations, and other activities.Skill/spiritual gifts: Primarily, love for children. We are always looking for these gifts and talents: technical abilities, acting, storytelling, etc.

AWANA

To reach and teach children from kindergarten through 2nd grade the gospel of Christ.Opportunities for Service: Cubbies (Kindergarten) and Sparks (1-2 graders) meet on Wednesday evenings. This is a large program and there is always a need for leaders and listeners to assist in memory verses, game time, and council time.Skills/spiritual gifts: A love for children and a desire to see them grow in Christ; be a good listener; be able to set a good Christ-like example for children to follow; be prepared to come regularly and on time for a great time with kids!

Vacation Bible School

Upward Basketball/Cheerleading

The focus of Upward is best defined by 2 Corinthians 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Xplode and B.L.A.S.T.

Xplode (grades 3 and 4) and B.L.A.S.T (grades 5 and 6) is designed to guide children toward spiritual maturity. The areas of growth covered in these groups are knowing Christ, growing in Christ, serving Christ, and sharing Christ.Opportunities for Service: Xplode and B.L.A.S.T. Adult Ministries

Small Group Bible Studies

Adult small groups that meet both Sunday morning and evening on campus and in homes throughout our community.Opportunities for Service: Teachers/facilitators, small group outreach, fellowship or prayer leaders.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Spiritual gift of teaching, shepherding, prophecy, mercy, exhortation, evangelism or administration. Knowledge of the Bible and a desire for spiritual growth through the study of God’s Word are important elements for service in this ministry.

Weekday Small Group Bible Studies

Adult small group Bible studies that provide discipleship and outreach into our community targeting both believers and seekers.Opportunities for Service: Providing a host home location for a small group, teacher/facilitator, or core member of a new small group start.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Evangelism, teacher, exhortation, shepherding, mercy or service. A desire to involve your friends and neighbors in a disciple or outreach Bible study small group.

Single Adult Ministry

The Single Adult Ministry provides small group experiences for singles where they can discuss God’s purpose for their lives, provide an outreach program to meet the needs of single adults in our community and provide social activities to unite singles in fellowship.
Opportunities for Service: Outreach and visitation on a weekly basis; coordinating and assisting monthly activities; Divorce Recovery Classes.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Teaching, shepherding, exhortation, prophecy, mercy, service, evangelism.

FBC Library

To provide quality educational materials for church members to have access to for learning more about being a Christian.Opportunities for Service: Cataloging books, recommending purchases, manning the library for open check-out times (on Sunday morning before and after early service, before Sunday evening service and on Wednesday evening). There is a need for someone to man the library at other times during the week, at the discretion of the volunteer leader.

XYZ Ministry

The XYZ Ministry brings senior adults together monthly to share in potlucks, fellowship and prayer. Occasional trips are planned so that senior adults can get out and enjoy life together.Opportunities for Service: Bus driver, XYZ leadership team member, activities subcommittee member.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Enjoy fellowship with other senior adults; encourage and support other senior adults; willingness to step out of the ordinary and experience new things. Shepherding, exhortation, administration, evangelism, service, mercy.

Women’s Ministries

Women’s Ministry exists to introduce women to Jesus Christ, challenge them to pattern their lives according to God’s word, encourage them to develop deep friendships and accountability, and provide women opportunities to serve others.Opportunities for Service: Leader or member of a Women’s Ministry Team that include: retreats, outreach, special events, prayer support, Bible studies, mentoring and missions.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Each team needs members with skills in the areas of administration and leadership. Evangelism, teaching, shepherding, hospitality and mercy are a few of the spiritual gifts that are utilized through the various ministries, programs and events that comprise the Women’s Ministry.

Men’s Ministries

By the grace of God, the Men’s Ministry of First Baptist Church exists to introduce men to Jesus Christ, develop godly character through a deeper relationship with Him and other men, and equip them to serve as the Holy Spirit leads.Opportunities for Service: Bible study, discipleship leaders, evangelism events, men’s events/retreats, Men’s Fraternity, service project leaders, leaders to welcome new men into our church.Skills/Spiritual Gifts: Administration, hospitality, encouragement, leadership, service, teaching, shepherding, prophecy.

Community Ministries

First C.A.R.E. Ministry

To meet the physical and spiritual needs of the needy, the transient, the hungry, and those with other specific needs in our community and church. Opportunities for Service: Monday 10 – 2; Tuesday 5 – 7; Thursday 10 - 2
Skills/spiritual gifts: Be able to meet people from all walks of life; gift of mercy; be able to share about Jesus and give personal testimony when appropriate; interviewing clients and praying with them; other interests include working in the food pantry and clothes closet

Helping Hands Ministry

To provide support where needed in making minor repairs or maintenance to homesOpportunities for Service: Whenever the need arises, members do minor repairs to plumbing, light construction, yard work, etc.Skills/spiritual gifts: Service, Hospitality, Caring, Handyman

Car Care Ministry

To provide basic car service for elderly, single and widowed women in our church.Opportunities for Service: Periodic Saturday morning car care sessions in the church parking lot. We inspect, change the oil, check fluid levels, lights, and tire pressure and try to help them with any questions they might have about their vehicles.Skills/spiritual gifts: We need volunteers who don’t mind getting a little dirty and are willing to give up half a Saturday every three months; no experience necessary.

Lonoke County Safe Haven

Ministering to the needs of victims of domestic violence.Opportunities for Service: answer helpline, office work, public speaking, special projects, serve on board.

Cabot Christmas Alliance

To network with businesses, churches, and individuals in the Cabot area to provide for those in need at Christmas timeOpportunities for Service: This is a yearly food drive within our community which takes place during four weeks between November and December. Gathering of food takes place on a cooperative basis; need help to unload the Kroger food truck, sort food into categories, load boxes according to family size, and help distribute the food in the Family Life CenterSkills/spiritual gifts: Compassion, mercy, service, organizational and planning skills

Christmas Toy Drive

"A Woman’s Place" Pregnancy Resource Center

Operating in partnership with numerous churches in the Cabot area, the center is staffed by volunteers.Volunteer Qualifications: A love relationship with Jesus Christ, a listening ear, a smile, a love for hurting people, a few hours of time, and an attitude of hope and joy.Spiritual gifts: Compassion, service, and mercy

Foster Care Ministry

This is for people who want to be involved in foster care, but can’t keep children in their homes. Examples of opportunities: child care, loan closet items, respite care

Arkansas Disaster Relief

Construction for Christ

Mission Awareness

Priscilla Group and WOM Heart to Heart

This group of women sponsors a monthly mission project in our community and surrounding areas. The Priscilla Group meets the first Tuesday of each month in the evening. The Heart to Heart Group meets the first Thursday of each month in the morning for a time of fellowship and honoring of missionaries around the world.Opportunities for Service: To meet with the group monthly, share in the collecting of project needs, support and uplift each other in prayer.Skills/spiritual gifts: Compassion for those in need, prayer for missionaries
